This policy explains what information SepticTankLab collects when you visit septictanklab.com, why we collect it, who else gets to see it, and what you can do about it. We have tried to write it the way we write everything else here: short sentences, no hedging.

NET STUDIO LLC is the data controller for this website. If you want to reach a human about anything in this policy, the email address above is the fastest route.
The short version
We do not ask you to create an account, we do not run a newsletter, and we do not sell your data to anyone. What we do have is standard website analytics and advertising: Google Analytics tells us which guides get read, and Google AdSense pays for the site by showing you ads. Both of those use cookies. You can refuse them from the consent banner, and the site works exactly the same either way.
Information we collect
Information you give us deliberately
The only way to hand us information on this site is to use the contact form or to email us. In that case we receive your name, your email address, and whatever you write in the message. We use it to answer you. We keep the correspondence for as long as it is useful — typically no more than 24 months — and then delete it. We do not add you to any mailing list, because we do not have one.
If commenting is open on an article and you leave a comment, WordPress stores the name, email address and comment text you submit, along with your IP address and browser user-agent string, which help with spam filtering. Comment authors’ email addresses are never published.
Information collected automatically
Like nearly every website, our server and our analytics provider record technical information each time a page is served:
- IP address (truncated before storage by Google Analytics)
- Browser type and version, operating system, screen size
- The page you requested, the page you came from, and the time of the request
- Approximate location, derived from the IP address at city level — never a precise location
We use this to understand which guides are useful, which pages are broken, and whether the site is fast enough on a phone. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors from it.
Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. This site uses four kinds.

The consent banner appears on your first visit. You can change your mind at any time from the cookie settings link in the footer. Refusing statistics and advertising cookies does not restrict any content — you will still see ads, they will simply be non-personalised.
Advertising
This site is paid for by advertising. We use Google AdSense.

- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or, in Europe, at Your Online Choices.
We do not control which specific ads are shown. We do not receive your identity from Google, and Google does not receive your contact-form messages from us.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation enabled and Google Signals disabled. Analytics only runs after you accept statistics cookies. Google processes this data on our behalf; their own privacy terms apply, and you can read them at policies.google.com/privacy. You can also install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, which blocks it on every site you visit.
Who else receives your data
We share personal data with nobody except the service providers that make the site work. Those are, in full:
- o2switch (France) — web hosting. Server logs sit here.
- Google Ireland Ltd / Google LLC — Analytics, AdSense, Search Console.
- Automattic — Gravatar, if you comment with an email address registered there.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising in the sense used by California law, beyond the advertising cookies described above, which you control from the banner. We will disclose information if a court or a competent authority lawfully requires it.
International transfers
NET STUDIO LLC is based in the United States and our hosting is in the European Union. Where data reaches Google, it may be processed in the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom
Under the GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to restrict or object to processing, and to receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on consent — analytics and advertising cookies — you may withdraw it at any time without affecting anything that happened before. You also have the right to complain to your national supervisory authority.
Our lawful bases are: consent for statistics and advertising cookies; legitimate interest for security logging and spam prevention; and performance of a request when you write to us and expect an answer.
If you are in California
Under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA you have the right to know what personal information is collected and for what purpose, the right to delete it, the right to correct it, and the right to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information for money. To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address at the top of this page; we will not discriminate against you for asking.
Everyone else
Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold and ask us to delete it. We will do it. Write to and allow up to 30 days for a substantive reply.
Children
This site is written for adult homeowners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Administrative access is limited, protected by brute-force rate limiting, and uses strong unique passwords. No website can promise perfect security, but we do not store anything about you that would be worth attacking.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will also reset the consent banner so you get a fresh choice.
